Final Camp Picts

Saturday

Saturday was a pretty easy. We woke up, packed up, cleaned our cabins, had breakfast, and then loaded our bus to head for home. I'm pretty sure most will use the bus ride home to sleep. But overall it was a great week!

Fri Around Camp

Fri Night

Friday was awesome and a great way to end our last full day. We started off with breakfast and chapel. We then divided out by churches around camp to spend some time with just our church here at camp. We (Saint Matthew) spent our time opening it up to anyone that wanted to share how Jesus impacted their life this week and/or a goal they have when they come home. It was awesome to hear how God has worked in so many of our students lives this week.
After that we went to rec. We all participated in the Meadow Ranch version of the “Amazing Race.” We had students in our team at all these different stations around camp where it basically became a relay race. We had everything from eating a “mystery food item” to diving in the pool for an object, to a three legged race. Everyone seemed to have had a great time participating in it.
We then went to lunch and free time. Everyone tried to get the most out of their last day there. We had a lot go to the pond or lake for the last time. Others go to the stores to get clothing or snack purchases, others just hanging out with friends they had made there. We had a handful of students go on the rope course today too.
After free time and dinner we had an evening recreation chapel where we found out the winners or this week’s recreation games. Three of the four Saint Matthew cabins were in second and third place. It was a lot of fun filled with lots of energy and excitements as we got to know the team ranks and watch a video of recreation from each day.
Directly after that we had our normal chapel with worship and Adam speaking to us one last time. He challenged us a lot on how to take what we’ve learned here and actually have it stick with us when we head down the mountain. We then went outside to the outdoor chapel (victory circle) where we had a chance to hear from all the students there how Jesus has impacted their lives this week. It was a great and encouraging night and a great way to end the week at Hume.

Thurs Around Camp

Thurs Night

Today was another wonderful day at camp. The day was filled with lots of game and a much deserved sleep in period that gave everyone a little more energy. For the counselors today was considered our “day off” and we were gifted with a 2 hour break from the kids and got to go get coffee or just take a nap, which we gladly accepted. The kids went off to their morning chapel as usual and then out for recreation. This recreation was different then the rest and we just played a huge game of dye-wars with the whole meadow ranch camp. The kids got red dye or green die all over them, and so did the counselors for that matter. Afterwards there was a giant slip and slide competition. For lunch today we had a picnic on the meadow and then we went off to free time. For free time today a group went on the high ropes course, others played frisbee, others hung out and relaxed. The remainder of the day was spent eating dinner and then attending a concert by The Reveal band, followed by chapel and then a little bit of ranch time

Wed Around Camp

Wed Night

This has been a fun day in Meadow Ranch! It started off with breakfast and morning chapel. The play continued with us learning about the manna the Israelites were given from God everyday. They soon got tired of it and started complaining to God and asking for something else. The play was fun because instead of God providing them quail, they were provided with peeps. Recreation today was Super Spirit Relay day. Everyone wore red, white and blue, and patriotic themed items, and participated in different relays. We had a great time. During free time we had a group go to the high ropes course, another group went to paintball, and others hung out at the pool or the blob. Tonight’s belly flop contest in the pool was fun. Sam and Lauren both participated for their teams. We then went to chapel where Adam talked to us about being able to trust and depend on God. We then did a great night game after chapels here the kids had to go to different stations but kept being held up by us counselors madding them do silly stuff (like sing songs, tie their shoes, dance, etc). After the game they were rewarded with a night swim. It was another full day, but totally awesome!

Tues Around Camp

Tues Night

The day started off again with the kids up and ready for another full day of adventures. After breakfast we went to chapel to see more of the continuing story of the Israelites.
After that the staff broke us up into smaller groups and took us on a short hike and where they shared more about the tabernacle and how the Israelites had limited access to God, but through Jesus we now have complete access to God.
Then came recreation. During rec chapel they told us the rankings of each team. Overall the OOOs are winning and all of the Saint Matthew teams are 4th or better in the subframe overall. Today each team played the two games they didn’t play the day before. The enthusiasm was high as each team tried to earn more points to become the champions of the week. After rec came lunch and free time. Today we had paintball and majority of our group went to participate. With it being so hot, a lot of people hung out at either the lake or pond to stay cool. Some went to the pond and went off the blob or Noah’s nightmare. Others went the stores or snack shop. Others just hung out and played cards. After free time we then went to dinner and then to evening competitions. Tonight’s competitions were the blob and Noah’s nightmare belly flop contest. Each rec team had a student and counselor participate in both. The blob competition was to send each student off the blob. Judging was based on height, charisma, and flips. Noah’s nightmare belly flop contest is pretty self-explanatory. It was fun hearing the audience groan or awe as participants smacked the water.
After the pond competitions we had evening chapel. Adam talked about how much God loves us, and thats why Jesus came to live and die among us. Students were given the opportunity for those who have never accepted Christ to make that decision for the first time tonight. We had a handful of our students decide to make that commitment. Praise Jesus! We had a neat moment with the girls. The girls who didn't stay back went back to our cabin and made signs saying "welcome" to the family" For the girls who chose to stay back and make a commitment to Jesus for the first time.
Because it was more of an emotional night some students hung back to talk to leaders, others went to night free time. After that we headed to our cabins for small groups and to head to bed. It was definitely a packed day but everyone had a great time.

Monday Around Camp

Monday night

Today was a great first start to the week. Everyone woke up ready and excited to have their first full day at Hume. After breakfast came morning chapel, were we went more into the story of the Israelites and the golden calf.
After chapel came the excitement of recreation and “The Fab Four” games. All of the Saint Matthew cabins are on the "OOO" team and have different sue teams under that. So hopefully the OOO team will win the overall team for the week. Well see how the subteams do, but so far we are off to a good start!

After rec came lunch and then free time. Free time was filled with tons of activities. Some explored camp, others rode the zip line over the pond, others enjoyed the wonders of Noah’s Nightmare (a big trapeze from which to swing and drop into the pond), others did the new high ropes course built just for meadow ranch, and others just hung out. Many counselors and campers had one-on-ones, a time when we can get to know each other better and encourage the students to dig deeper into their relationships with God. After dinner a lot of the students watched the counselor vs staff kickball games. Others went to have some down time.
The evening chapel consisted of worship and our speaker, Adam, breaking down the play we saw of the Israelites earlier this morning. He helped show us how we are a lot like the Israelites in that it's easy to still mave idols in our lives.
After chapel we had a little bit more free time before we headed up to cabin time to talk about what we have been processing so far from our speaker Adam, our devotions, and memory verses. Afterwards we headed to bed. It was a packed but awesome first full day of camp.

Sunday Around Camp

Sunday Night

Well I’m late posing this because we had a busy, but great day getting settled into camp yesterday. We had a fun drive down watching movies and talking with each other. We made good time and got to camp and into our cabins. We had plenty of time to unpack, spend some time getting to know each other in our cabins, as well as just start exploring around camp. We then went to dinner and then to our first chapel. Chapel was a lot of fun as we got introduced to our band leading worship as well as our speaker. The opener introduced us to the story of the Israelites and the exodus out of Egypt.
Afterwards we had a bit of free time before we headed back to our cabins for small groups and then sleep. Overall a great start to the week. I’m excited to see the fun memories we create as well as what God does this week
