Sunday Night

It was a nice and uneventful ride and we made it up safely to Hume Lake by 3 pm and got checked in, went to our cabins and most of us went swimming.
This year there is a new worship band called Chasing Cadence. They started off our opening chapel with a powerful high-spirited worship set.
This week's speaker is Dathan Brown (no relation to Chris who spoke during the high schooler’s week in Ponderosa) who is the youth pastor at EV Free Church in Fullerton, CA. For the first time Hume has a universal theme (Isola: Alone at the End of the World). So the middle schoolers are also looking at the story of Daniel. Dathan challenged the students to be more like Daniel and stand alone when needed and to not just be a part of the crowd.
The opener was amazing (we had a lot better seats than the week the high schoolers were at Ponderosa). This year the opener was held out at the pond (behind the Ark in Meadow Ranch). The setting was a peasant village that ended up being besieged by Vikings. Mandy Klem (one of the Hume staff from Saint Matthew) was one of the village peasants and Aaron Davidson (one of the Hume staff also from Saint Matthew) set a guy on fire up on Noah’s Nightmare (the rope swing platform) and shot flaming arrows at the Viking long boat. It was pretty spectacular. All of our students, who wanted, got signed up for Paintball and High Adventure.
Well I’m off to the Youth Pastor’s meeting. We'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Dear Pastor David and all the middle schoolers and the adult sponsors: We are praying for you all the time. The pictures are great. Who's the kid with the big smile and the black sweatshirt in the second picture? Too bad he's not having any fun! Tina Mason
