Friday Around Camp

Friday Friday was a great last day but it went by quickly. After breakfast we went to chapel where the detective found out that Phoenix was alive and that death cannot stop him. After that we had recreation where teams competed in the Hume version of the “amazing race.” After rec, we had lunch and free time. Most of the students tried to fit as much as they could in their last day of Hume. Afterwards we had a bbq dinner on the meadow and then went to chapel. Daren challenged us in needing to take the message of Jesus home with us and share it with those who have not heard about Jesus yet. From there we went to a place called Victory Circle which is an outdoor amphitheater with a campfire where students had the opportunity to share about how they experienced Jesus this week. It was a great way to end the week.

Thursday Around Camp

Thursday Thursday we a sleep in day where we were given an extra hour of sleep. We then had breakfast and chapel. Chapel was an impactful one where Phoenix Dark ends up getting executed. Our detective finds out though that Phoenix died willingly which confuses the detective of why he would be willing to die willingly. After chapel, we had recreation. Today was dye wars! The two major teams (cops and robbers) were given different color dye to throw at each other. It’s a fun game and everyone ends up having a tie dye tshirt afterwards. After that we watched our teams compete in a huge slip n slide competition. We then had a bbq on the meadow for lunch. After that we had free time. A lot of our group either did paint ball or high ropes, others went to the lake and rented a boat. After free time and dinner, there was a concert by our worship band- the Hank Murphy Band. Then we had chapel where Daren talked about how Jesus died for us. He then gave an opportunity for students to accept Christ for the first time if they have never done so. We had some students take that step and others who just wanted to renew their relationship with Jesus. It was a great night!

Wed Around Camp

Wed By Wed we were in the routine of camp. We started off with breakfast and morning chapel. This morning the detective figured out that with Phoenix Dark you are either in you are out- there is no maybe. We looked at stories of Judas and Peter that morning as well. After Chapel we had recreation where we did a bunch of different relay games. After that we had lunch and free time. Most of Saint Matthew went to the other side of the lake to swim and hang out for most of free time. After free time we had dinner and then watched the pool belly flop contest. Our out TJ and Jessica ended up getting the highest scores of the night!! After that we went to Chapel and then had a night game where the students tried to get tokens back to chapel. All of the counselor’s job was trying to stop and slow down the students while they searched for the tokens. After that the students could have a night swim at the pool or free time and then we headed to cabins.
